Wheaton Murder: Aurora Man Charged in Bar Shooting over Pizza Dispute on Friday Night

Wheaton, Illinois – An Aurora man, Michael Freund, faces first-degree murder charges following a fatal shooting at Rosie O’Reilly’s bar over a pizza dispute on Friday night. 

DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin and Sheriff James Mendrick announced the denial of pre-trial release for Freund, accused of murdering Dexter Perkins during the altercation.

According to police reports the incident unfolded Friday night when deputies responded to a call at the bar. The confrontation allegedly started over a bar tab and pizza, leading to Freund allegedly drawing a 9 mm Glock and fatally shooting Perkins. 

Freund was arrested at the scene, and the weapon was later reportedly found in his truck. He is scheduled for arraignment on January 18, 2024.
