Will County, IL – Joliet City-Owned Utility Truck Strikes Elderly Pedestrian, Critically Injured Wednesday Morning

Joliet, IL – A pedestrian was critically injured in a vehicle accident on East Cass Street late Wednesday morning.

According to a news release from the Joliet Police Department, the incident occurred at 11:03 a.m. when a 54-year-old male Joliet Utilities employee driving a city-owned Ford F350 pickup truck made a left turn from Herkimer Street onto East Cass Street. 

The truck struck a 75-year-old male pedestrian from Joliet who was crossing Cass Street in the crosswalk. The pedestrian was transported to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured. 

East Cass Street remains closed between Collins Street and Eastern Avenue as the Joliet Police Traffic Unit investigates. Authorities urge anyone with information or video footage to contact the Traffic Unit at 815-724-3193.
