HOMER GLEN, Ill. – The Homer Township Fire Protection District faced a taxing Friday, grappling with two significant incidents within an hour of each other in the Village of Homer Glen.

According to Homer Township Fire Protection District reports it was just after 1:30 p.m. when emergency teams rushed to the 13000 block of Finch Ct after a vehicle alarmingly crashed into a residence, with the impact propelling the car from the garage into a basement bedroom. Fortunately, the house was unoccupied during the ordeal. The driver, extricated from the wreckage, sustained non-critical injuries.

Simultaneously, less than an hour earlier another alarm rang out in the 15400 block of Sharon Dr. where smoke billowed from a two-story house’s rear. The culprit: a fire centered around the chimney stack. One resident sustained minor injuries but was promptly treated and released.

While Homer Fire predominantly handled both scenes, multiple departments provided invaluable support ensuring both situations were swiftly and safely resolved.
