Boil Order Issued for Wilmington Following Kankakee River Flooding

Wilmington, IL – The City of Wilmington has issued a citywide Boil Order as of 5:00 pm on January 26, 2024, in response to the recent flooding of the Kankakee River. This precautionary measure includes Lakewood Shores and is aimed at ensuring the safety of the drinking water supply.

During the Boil Order, the city advises that all water used for drinking and cooking purposes should be boiled for 5 minutes before use.

Public Works Director James Gretencord extends apologies for the inconvenience caused by this measure and encourages residents to contact the Wilmington Public Works Department for further information or questions.
