Herrin, IL – A tense standoff is currently unfolding in Herrin, Illinois, where a 28-year-old man has barricaded himself inside a home after allegedly discharging a firearm. 

According to police reports the incident began on Thursday evening in the 600 block of S. 12th St. Local authorities, including the Herrin Police Department and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, responded swiftly, establishing a secure perimeter around the neighborhood.

Chief David Dorris of the Herrin Police Department emphasized the ongoing efforts to maintain public safety and resolve the situation peacefully. Multiple law enforcement agencies are involved, and crisis negotiators are actively working to engage with the suspect.
