Wilmington, IL – Police Warn of Jury Duty Scam Targeting Residents

Wilmington, IL – A scam involving phone calls about missed jury duty has been reported by residents in Wilmington.

According to the City of Wilmington Police Department, a resident received a call yesterday morning from someone claiming to be a deputy from the Will County Sheriff’s Office.

The caller’s phone number matched that of the Will County Courthouse. After hanging up, the resident contacted the courthouse directly and was informed it was a scam. Authorities advise residents to verify suspicious calls by contacting agencies directly.
