Northern Indiana witnessed a rare display of the Northern Lights, visible Friday night through Saturday morning, casting a mesmerizing glow of green and purple across the sky.
The celestial phenomenon, captured by local forecasters from the US National Weather Service, occurred under G5 geomagnetic conditions, a level not seen since Halloween 2003.
According to the NOAA NWS Space Weather Prediction Center, this intense geomagnetic storm made the aurora borealis visible as far south as Florida and Texas. As the region transitions from showers to partly cloudy skies, with temperatures ranging from the 40s at night to highs in the 70s on Sunday, locals remain hopeful for more glimpses of the Northern Lights amidst the changing weather.
