Child Custody Exchange Erupts in Gunfire in Griffith: Police Nab Suspects

GRIFFITH, IN – A child custody handoff on North Arbogast Street turned violent when gunshots rang out, leaving two wounded, Griffith Police reported Saturday. 

According to police reports the exchange Friday night was shattered by a lone bullet, injuring both individuals in the vehicle. Swift medical response stabilized the non-critical injuries, and no bystanders were harmed. 

Authorities have arrested two suspects, with prosecution pending. 

The Griffith Police, supported by state and local agencies, stressed this was an isolated incident, posing no ongoing risk.
