RENSSELAER, IN – A seemingly innocent investigation into a Rensselaer Middle School student’s misuse of a school-issued tablet revealed a larger drug ring, culminating in the arrest of seven individuals.
According to Rensselaer Police reports, the student’s activity led officers to 21-year-old Tieler Zerby, the alleged initial supplier of marijuana. Deeper inquiries further connected Zerby to Ryan Ricardez, 26, both of whom resided on Oak Street.
A warranted search on October 19 at the residence unveiled a trove of illegal substances, including marijuana, THC products, and paraphernalia. Six individuals, encompassing Zerby, Ricardez, and others, were promptly arrested. The charges ranged from allegations of simple possession to maintaining a common nuisance, a level six felony.
As the investigation continued, two vehicles allegedly reported stolen by the previously arrested individuals led to the identification and subsequent arrest of Kane Stokes, 24, and Alana Shultz, 19. Both were linked to the thefts, with Shultz also found in possession of methamphetamine.
An investigation into the case remains ongoing with authorities with additional charges expected.
