Indianapolis, IN – A devastating fire early Tuesday morning at 5851 Cedarstone Ct. in Indianapolis led to the displacement of 15 residents, including 12 children.

According to investigators the blaze originated in the carport and quickly spread to multiple apartment units, impacting four in total. Responding to the scene at 2:43 AM, the Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) and City of Lawrence Fire Department (CLFD) found heavy fire upon arrival and immediately launched an aggressive attack.

All residents, except for one who was assisted by firefighters, had evacuated before their arrival. Despite the challenging conditions, crews managed to control the fire within 45 minutes, although a CLFD firefighter sustained a slight injury. The IFD’s Victims Assistance and the Red Cross are actively working with the apartment management to provide shelter for the displaced residents. The investigation into the fire’s cause is ongoing.
