Students Deliver Care Packages to Michigan City Hospital Patients

Michigan City, IN – Coolspring Elementary School students in Michigan City recently assembled and donated 54 care packages to Franciscan Health Michigan City patients, each containing a unique coloring book filled with their own artwork. 

The initiative was part of the national Better World Day event, focusing on community engagement and positive impacts.The care packages, designed to bring joy and comfort, included coloring supplies, treats, and a heartfelt message from the students. Each package also featured a QR code linked to a voice message from the students expressing well-wishes. 

The project, led by art teacher Nicole Ward, emphasized the importance of connecting with the community through meaningful gestures.Sister M. Petra Nielsen, OSF, Vice President of Mission Integration at Franciscan Health, expressed gratitude for the students’ thoughtfulness and compassion, highlighting the positive influence of their efforts on the hospital’s patients and staff.
