Valparaiso University Grad Student Succumbs Weeks After Planet Fitness Attack in Indiana

VALPARAISO, IN — In a tragic turn of events, Valparaiso University has announced the death of Varun Raj Pucha, a 29-year-old graduate student who was brutally stabbed in the head at a local Planet Fitness. 

The attack, which occurred on October 29th, led to Pucha being placed on life support until his recent passing. The university expressed profound grief, extending thoughts and prayers to Pucha’s family and friends. The community came together in solidarity at the Indian American cultural center in Merrillville to honor Pucha’s memory. 

Meanwhile, the suspect, 24-year-old Jordan Andrade of Porter Township, faces attempted murder and aggravated battery charges. The Valparaiso Police Department continues its investigation and encourages public assistance in the ongoing case.
