BOURBONNAIS – On Wednesday, while workers finished final touches on the building, customers were greeted to a soft opening and their first look at Kankakee County’s new ALDI store, located at 950 Main St in Bourbonnais.
The latest location appropriately spaced between USPS and Burger King, occupying 12,500-square feet of retail space, allowing for extra social distancing efforts when shopping. The new store is now the largest location in all of Kankakee County.
With the company’s streamline approach to staffing, each store features roughly 15 to 20 employees at any one location.
Inside the store, shoppers are treated to a new environment equipped with proper protocols for a COVID-19 world, including a mask requirement for all who enter along with protective barriers at checkout, one-way aisles, extra-wide aisles, and social distancing reminders placed throughout the store.
“We know shopping for groceries is essential, which is why we are committed to providing high-quality, affordable groceries and a safe shopping experience,” said Heather Moore, Dwight division vice president for ALDI. “We are proud to open this new Bourbonnais store, and we look forward to doing what we do best, which is ensuring the communities we serve have access to the groceries they need at the lowest possible prices.”
The retailer has also remained focused on ensuring stores are stocked with the food and household essentials customers want and need, including healthy, convenient options and a robust selection of produce delivered fresh to all stores daily. ALDI stores also feature open ceilings, natural lighting and are built with environmentally friendly materials.
ALDI has intensified cleaning efforts at all its locations. Those unwilling to wear a mask are asked to take advantage of the company’s Curbside Grocery Pickup.
The Bourbonnais location celebrates its Grand Opening later this morning.
ALDI in Bourbonnais is now open daily from 9 am to 8 pm.
