Bourbonnais Resident Arrested on Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop in Kankakee

KANKAKEE, Ill. — A routine traffic stop on the South Side of Kankakee took a startling turn Wednesday night, leading Kankakee City Police to uncover a drug-related arrest. 

Fredrick Jones, 24, of Bourbonnais, found himself in handcuffs after officers discovered a cache of controlled substances hidden in his vehicle. According to reports, law enforcement officers initiated the traffic stop after observing a violation committed by Jones. Further investigation revealed that the registration on the car he was driving had been reported stolen.

Officers prompted a thorough search of the vehicle and reportedly unearthed a stash of cannabis and prescription drugs concealed within the car.

Jones was promptly taken into custody, charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
