BRADLEY, IL – The Bradley Village Board, during its Monday night meeting, approved a resolution to forgo the traditional competitive bidding process, instead selecting Gilbane Building Co. directly as the construction manager for the forthcoming sports complex.Â
Mayor Mike Watson highlighted the project’s anticipated cost of approximately $42 million, noting the contract’s unique basis on a percentage of the total expenses.
This decision, reportedly marked by a 30-day negotiation period with Manteno-based Gilbane Building Co., culminates in a strategic partnership aimed at steering the village’s ambitious project, positioned near Northfield Square Mall. Starting April 3, the village will seek bids for preliminary earthwork.
New Park Planned for Bradley After Land Donation
Bradley Village Board has announced a significant expansion to the community’s public spaces with the acceptance of a land donation off Cardinal Drive and Edgebrook. This new park, strategically located just north of E. North Street, is a substantial addition near the I-57 overpass, roughly ten residential plots from the highway. The land, initially eyed for housing development, was instead donated by a local developer to the Village of Bradley.
The future green space is slated for the 2025-26 village budget, with Mayor Mike Watson noting the park’s potential to provide both recreational and ecological benefits to the Bradley community. This development reflects Bradley’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its residents through the thoughtful expansion of its green spaces.
