Champaign, IL – A 911 call early this morning reported an unclothed woman acting erratically and holding a knife near Second and Green streets in Champaign.
According to University of Illinois Police, officers quickly arrived on the scene, contained the woman, and began de-escalation efforts. An Illini-Alert emergency notification instructed students, faculty, and staff to avoid the area. The woman eventually dropped the knife and received medical attention. By 8:30 a.m., authorities deemed the area safe and issued an updated alert. The response involved assistance from Urbana and Champaign police departments.
