Chesterton, IN – A DoorDash delivery turned problematic early Monday, March 18, when a 26-year-old Chicago man found himself in legal trouble.

Officer Cole Foster of the Chesterton Police Department was dispatched to the 1200 block of Park Ave. for a routine assistance call and encountered the driver standing beside his vehicle, which had run out of fuel.

According to the CPD, the man, who was in the midst of a delivery, showed clear signs of intoxication. A blood draw at Northwest Health-Porter confirmed his blood alcohol content was above 0.15 percent, leading to his arrest for operating while intoxicated (OWI).

The driver was subsequently transported to Porter County Jail, highlighting the risks and responsibilities associated with delivery services on the road.
