Orland Park, IL – An undercover operation has led to the arrest of a Chicago Heights man, who allegedly used Snapchat to sell drugs, including to children as young as 13. Jeffrey Meyer, 21, was apprehended following a meticulous investigation by the Orland Park Police, who initiated their probe after receiving tips about his activities in the fall of 2023.
According to authorities, Meyer allegedly targeted local teenagers, offering cannabis and psilocybin mushrooms through the popular social media platform. The investigation escalated when undercover officers allegedly purchased drugs directly from Meyer, confirming suspicions of his involvement in these illegal activities.
During a decisive raid on Meyer’s residence Thursday conducted by the Orland Park Police along with the South Suburban Emergency Response Team, officers yielded over 300 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and more than 23 pounds of cannabis and THC products. Police also found three firearms, including a Glock modified to fire automatically, and nearly $80,000 in cash, allegedly proceeds from the drug sales.
Meyer now faces several felony charges, including two Class X felonies for the intent to deliver cannabis and mushrooms, reflecting the serious nature of the offenses. This case highlights the increasing challenge of monitoring illegal activities facilitated through digital platforms like Snapchat.
