Chicago, IL – A Special Weather Statement has been issued for the Chicagoland area as of 8:48 AM CST, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Residents are advised to prepare for southerly winds reaching up to 45 mph during the day. The NWS warns that such strong winds can pose driving challenges, especially on west-to-east roadways in open and rural areas, including along Interstates 80 and 88.

The gusts are strong enough to disrupt outdoor decorations and may cause small tree branches to fall. Wind conditions are expected to improve after sunset. The public is urged to secure loose items and exercise caution while driving.
