Chicago, IL – Chicago and surrounding areas brace for a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain starting early Monday, with icy conditions likely to impact the afternoon commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, a light snowfall is expected to transition to freezing drizzle in the afternoon, leading to slippery surfaces and potential power outages.

The forecast indicates that if ground temperatures remain low, slick conditions may extend into Tuesday morning, affecting the commute. Residents are advised to check road conditions, use caution on untreated streets, and prepare for possible delays.

The weather pattern suggests multiple rounds of precipitation throughout the week, with temperatures gradually rising towards Thursday.
