Coroner: Bourbonnais couple dead by gunshot to head, one self inflicted

BOURBONNAIS – A couple found dead in their home Monday both died of gunshot wounds to the head.

The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office released the findings Tuesday a day after the couple was found dead in the master bedroom of their home in the 700 block of Cherokee Drive by police conducting a wellness check.

According to the Coroner’s report, preliminary autopsy findings demonstrate that Mr. Menz

died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound of the head and Mrs. Menz died of a gunshot wound of the head. 

The final cause and manner of death has yet to be released and is pending following a toxicology test.
