Wheaton, IL – DuPage County has enhanced its 211 health and human services information and referral line by adding a convenient texting option for residents.
Now, in addition to calling or browsing for assistance, locals can text their ZIP code to 898211 to engage with a County operator for immediate referrals to nearby support services. This service is operational from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.According to Human Services Chairman Greg Schwarze, “Texting 211 initiates a conversation with a live, specially trained operator who will efficiently connect you to the right resources.” This expansion aims to improve the accessibility of the 211 Helpline, making it easier for residents to connect with the necessary resources and support.
The 211 service, which DuPage County initiated in November 2022, has already assisted over 8,000 individuals by linking them to a wide range of services including food, legal aid, and health and wellness, among others. The county boasts a comprehensive database of more than 600 service providers, offering thousands of services tailored to meet the residents’ needs.
