Gary Man Arrested Following Armed Robbery at Griffith Gas Station

HAMMOND, IN – An armed robbery at a gas station in Griffith, Indiana, Monday led to the swift arrest of a Gary man by local law enforcement. 

Griffith Police Department reported that the incident took place around 7:14 AM in the 800 block of N Broad Street. Officers quickly gathered evidence at the scene, including eyewitness testimonies and surveillance video, which, along with other technological evidence, facilitated the rapid tracking down of the suspect.

Rayshawn Vorice, a 21-year-old resident of Gary, was located and arrested at a hotel in Hammond, Indiana. A search warrant executed in Vorice’s hotel room reportedly uncovered a firearm and a significant amount of US currency. Vorice was subsequently detained at the Lake County Jail without bond and has been formally charged with Armed Robbery (Level 3 Felony) and Possession of Cocaine (Level 6 Felony) by the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office.
