SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP, MI – A 3-year-old toddler from Hinsdale, Illinois has died after a devastating drowning accident at his family’s Michigan lake house Friday afternoon.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, it happened at Indian Lake in Silver Creek Township at 3:32 PM when authorities received a distress call. The young toddler had been playing by the water, and despite a relative’s heroic efforts to pull him from the lake and administer CPR, first responders’ attempts to revive him proved futile.
The toddler, identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Elijah Rosegren, was swiftly transported to Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac, where medical staff pronounced him dead.
Authorities have said there is no evidence of foul play involved in the case. An extensive investigation is underway, with the collaborative efforts of SMCAS Ambulance, Indian Lake Fire Department, Pokagon Band Tribal Police, and the Michigan State Police.
