Minooka, IL – A traffic stop on I-80 led to a substantial drug seizure on Wednesday afternoon, where Grundy County authorities discovered 307 bags of suspected fentanyl.
According to police reports the incident occurred at the Ridge Road off-ramp in Minooka around 3 p.m., initiated due to a speeding violation. During the interaction, officers observed improperly packaged cannabis, prompting a search that reportedly revealed the fentanyl, totaling 216 grams, and $1,961 in cash.
Eugene Walker, 32, from Chicago, was charged with a class X felony for Manufacturing and Delivering between 100 and 400 grams of fentanyl. Walker, alongside Christopher Sherry, 42, of Homer Glen, who was also present during the stop.
Sherry was taken to Morris Hospital for health concerns and later released with a court date, while Walker was booked into Grundy County Jail. Following the guidelines of the Safe-T Act, Walker was subsequently released under specific pretrial conditions.
