However, a recent incident involving Watseka Police Department’s K-9 unit, led by the exceptional canine officer Tucker, demonstrates the multifaceted skills and invaluable contributions these officers provide to not only their partners, but communities.
In the case of Tucker, his remarkable air-scent skills played a pivotal role in locating a suicidal subject Wednesday evening swiftly and efficiently. Watseka police were called to a location near South Second Street after a person had threatened their own life, but left the scene by the time officers arrived. Tucker was deployed by his handler and tracked down ther person in a parking lot several blocks away. The suicidal subject is in custody undergoing evaluation at an area hospital.
