Kankakee, IL – Local officials are advising drivers to avoid the southbound lanes of I57 due to ongoing construction work between Bradley/Bourbonnais and Kankakee.

The heavy interstate traffic expected this morning has prompted the suggestion of alternative routes.

According to local authorities, as of April 8, 2024, at 8:28 AM CDT, motorists should consider using IL Rt 50 or US Rt 45/52 to circumvent the affected area and prevent delays.

Commuters are encouraged to plan their routes ahead and stay informed on the latest traffic updates to ensure a smooth journey.
