Illinois Vehicle Owners Warned: Nissan Recall Linked to 27 Deaths, 400 Injuries

Springfield, IL – Nissan has issued a “Do Not Drive” warning for 83,920 vehicles from model years 2002-2006 due to faulty Takata air bags. The warning covers certain Nissan Sentra, Pathfinder, and Infiniti QX4 models.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), affected vehicles must not be driven until the defective air bags are replaced. Nissan and Infiniti offer free towing, mobile repair, and loaner vehicles. Illinois owners can contact Nissan at 800-647-7261 or visit the recall website for more information.

To date, defective Takata air bags have allegedly caused 27 deaths and injured over 400 people in the U.S. Owners should check for recalls using NHTSA’s Recalls Lookup Tool or the SaferCar app.
