Lincoln, IL – Early morning travelers near and south of I-70 are facing dense fog, with visibility dropping below half a mile. The National Weather Service in Lincoln reports these conditions are expected to improve rapidly by 8 a.m. Drivers are urged to exercise caution on the roads during this period of reduced visibility.

According to NWS Lincoln, Central Illinois is about to get a taste of summer with temperatures expected to rocket into the lower 90s starting Sunday. This period marks some of the warmest weather of the season, with heat indices reaching the upper 80s to lower 90s each day through Tuesday. This significant rise in temperatures follows a cooler start to the month.

Today is expected to remain mostly dry, but isolated thunderstorms are forecasted for Sunday, bringing brief periods of rain. The beginning of the workweek will see a higher chance of showers, particularly in areas west of I-55. The increased humidity and heat could make outdoor activities challenging, and residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours.

These weather patterns highlight the importance of staying informed and prepared. Motorists should remain alert for changing conditions, and residents should plan accordingly for the upcoming warm weather. For continuous updates, follow the National Weather Service in Lincoln on their official channels.
