Greencastle, IN — With the end of Spring Break, Putnam County Sheriff’s Department is strictly enforcing traffic laws to protect returning students.

Motorists are reminded of the steep penalties for illegally passing school buses, including fines of up to $10,000. The enforcement campaign aims to ensure compliance with school bus stop arms, an action essential for children’s safety.

Despite efforts by the SAVE program and previous enforcement measures, violations continue, prompting this renewed call to action. Officials emphasize the critical role of community adherence to safeguard students as they travel to and from school.
