Lake County, IN – The Lake County Sheriff’s Department is currently managing a series of crashes, slide-offs, and disabled vehicles following severe weather conditions early this morning.

According to Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr., by 8 am, officers were responding to numerous incidents across the county. The heavy snowfall, coupled with blowing and drifting snow, has significantly impacted road safety, particularly on I-65, I-80/94, and Wicker Avenue. The accumulation of snow on roads and reduced visibility due to the weather are making driving conditions increasingly treacherous.

Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution, allow extra time for travel, and maintain a safe stopping distance. The situation is ongoing, and drivers are advised to stay updated on road conditions and exercise utmost caution.
