La Porte County, IN – State Road 39 has reopened following significant railroad crossing upgrades.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), the road between U.S. 6 and County Road W 800 S was closed to allow for the upgrades. INDOT’s Northwest rail coordinator collaborated with Grand Trunk Western Railroad Company and CSX Transportation to complete the project, replacing the crossing materials years ahead of schedule. This coordination avoided multiple road closures. The improvements are expected to enhance safety and traffic flow in the area.
