Iroquois County, IL – Tornado, Severe Storm Risk Heightens South of Kankakee River This Afternoon

Iroquois County, IL – The aftermath of this morning’s storms may give way to further severe weather across Kankakee County later today. 

According to the National Weather Service Chicago, from 2 PM to 8 PM CDT, there is a heightened risk of tornadoes, particularly south of the Kankakee River. The area is also bracing for potentially strong to severe thunderstorms capable of unleashing damaging winds and hail.

All storms are expected to produce lightning and heavy downpours, with a likelihood of localized flooding and travel delays. The storm motion will be to the ENE at a rapid 50-55 mph. Residents in the dark blue-shaded regions on the map should be particularly vigilant and maintain access to multiple weather warnings, while staying tuned to the latest updates as the situation develops throughout the day.
