Kankakee County, IL – Residents in several Kankakee County communities, including Kankakee, Bradley, Bourbonnais, Grant Park, Manteno, Aroma Park, and Limestone, have been issued a Boil Water Notice. According to AQUA, the notice, dated January 28, 2024, is due to operational challenges in the water plant and distribution system following a rapid thaw and heavy rains in the area. These conditions have led to increased turbidity, or sediment, in the water supply.

AQUA advises affected residents to use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation. The recommended procedure is to bring water to a boil, boil it for five minutes, and then let it cool before use. AQUA has assured customers that they will be notified as soon as boiling water is no longer necessary. This precautionary measure is crucial for ensuring public health and safety until the water quality is restored to normal standards.
