Bradley, IL – Tensions are escalating once again at CSL Behring as the plant is accused of violating a union contract ahead of a now planned layoff of 65 union workers, coinciding with the shutdown of one of the plants two production lines on May 21.

United Chemical Workers Local 498-C alleges that the biopharmaceutical giant’s move to cease operations infringes upon agreed terms made not one year ago, suddenly throwing the livelihoods of dozens of families in the area into jeopardy.

With the union taking swift action by filing a grievance and calling upon the National Labor Relations Board for intervention, the company’s rationale of equipment obsolescence is under scrutiny. The potential job losses have not only sparked outrage among the workforce but also raised broader questions about labor rights and corporate accountability in the manufacturing sector.

The situation has put a spotlight on the fate of the workers and the adherence to collective bargaining principles in Bradley’s industrial community.
