Kankakee Health Department suspends COVID-19 testing days after recording 25% daily positivity

KANKAKEE – The Kankakee County Health Department (KCHD) announced Wednesday it has suspended COVID-19 testing until further notice. It comes at a time when positivity is rising statewide and concerns among the fast spreading delta variant remain high. 

No reason for the suspension was given, but KCHD says it plans to update residents soon when testing becomes available again at the County agency. 

The announcement came less than 48 hours after Kankakee recorded a daily test positivity rating of 25.5% Monday. The County’s current positivity levels are 8% while Region 7’s overall positivity, including Will County, is 6.4%.

In the meantime, residents can find testing sites in Kankakee at the following locations:

  • Aunt Marthas in Kankakee – No appointment needed.
