Kankakee, IL – Local Employee, Accomplice Charged in Lottery Ticket Fraud Scheme

Kankakee, IL – A local business employee and her friend were arrested in Kankakee for allegedly engaging in a scheme involving theft of lottery tickets. The arrests came after the business manager discovered a financial shortfall and reviewed surveillance footage. 

According to the Kankakee City Police, the footage revealed 21-year-old employee Emma Stichter allegedly taking lottery tickets and handing them to her friend, 23-year-old Mariah Johnson-Day. Johnson-Day was seen reportedly scratching the tickets and then returning them to Stichter to be cashed in. 

Both Stichter and Johnson-Day were charged with Felony Retail Theft and conspiracy following their arrest on Monday.
