Kankakee, IL – A severe weather alert has been issued for regions south of Interstate 80, encompassing Kankakee, Iroquois, Livingston, and Champaign counties.

According to the National Weather Service, starting late Sunday afternoon, residents in these areas should prepare for multiple waves of potentially severe weather. Thunderstorms are expected, with a risk of hail up to one inch in diameter, particularly affecting the specified counties.

There is a chance for a break from the rain on Monday morning; however, the weather service warns of more rainfall Monday evening, which may lead to localized flooding. Citizens are advised to remain vigilant and have multiple means of receiving weather warnings during this time.
