Kankakee, IL – Sarah Quick, a Kankakee Community College student and president of the Student Nursing Association of Illinois, is gearing up for the American Nurses Association of Illinois Student Nurse Political Action Day in Springfield on April 16.
Quick, a 2013 Central High School graduate, has had a journey marked by persistence and passion for nursing, re-enrolling in KCC to pursue a registered nursing degree in 2020 after previous attempts in college.
According to KCC, Quick’s dedication extends beyond academics. She was invited to the SNA of Illinois convention in 2022 by her professor Mary Kyrouac, and quickly rose through the ranks, being elected as the organization’s president in 2023. Quick emphasizes the importance of nursing beyond the bedside, advocating for renewed passion in the profession post-COVID.
Quick’s role involves extensive volunteer work and collaboration with other nursing students statewide, aiming to influence nursing at a political level. Her participation in the upcoming event in Springfield highlights her commitment to shaping the future of nursing, both in Illinois and nationally.
Kankakee Community College’s registered nursing program, known for its competitive entry and comprehensive curriculum, continues to support students like Quick in achieving their professional and academic goals. For more information on the program, contact program director Kellee Hayes.
