Lake County, IL – Gurnee Woman Hospitalized After Route 41 Crash

Lake County, IL – A Gurnee woman and her passenger were hospitalized with critical injuries following a crash on Route 41 in Lake County on Saturday afternoon.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. near Stearns School Road and Fuller Road. An 88-year-old Gurnee woman driving a Toyota Rav4 collided with a Kia Forte at the intersection of Route 41 and Stearns School Road, causing minor damage to both vehicles.

According to an 89-year-old male passenger in the Rav4, the driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, leading the vehicle to strike a utility pole. Both occupants of the Rav4 were hospitalized with critical injuries, while the Kia driver was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
