PEOTONE – An additional police presence will be felt at area schools after it was decided classes will proceed as scheduled Monday despite a threat made Sunday afternoon.
Peotone Police are not releasing full details but were made aware of an alleged threat Sunday afternoon directed at a junior high school student via a third party messaging platform.
Due to juveniles involved in the case, details are limited.
“Please understand that we are not free to provide many details at this time due to the fact that the case involves juveniles. However, please be assured that the police and the school district are comfortable in the decision to proceed with school tomorrow.” Peotone Police said in a statement posted to Facebook Sunday night. “Actions have been taken to ensure everyone’s safety. Out of an abundance of caution, extra police will be present at the schools tomorrow.”
