Bloomington Police Department Seeks Public’s Help in Solving Teen’s Homicide

Bloomington, IL – The Bloomington Police Department (BPD) is urging anyone with information about the death of 17-year-old Kanye Stowers to come forward and help bring closure to the victim’s family. The incident took place on April 8th, 2022, at around 11:34 p.m. in the 400 block of E. Mill St.

Officers were dispatched to the area for a disturbance call when they heard gunshots nearby. Upon their arrival, they discovered an adult male with a gunshot wound who was later pronounced dead at the scene. No further information has been released by the authorities, and the case remains unsolved.

In a statement, BPD Chief Jamal A. Simington emphasized the department’s commitment to working with the community to solve crimes. “The Stowers family has been forever negatively impacted by the loss of Kanye,” said Simington. “Any information may be the difference in solving this loss of such a young life.”

Without the assistance of the community, this homicide may go unsolved. BPD is urging everyone to come forward and provide any information that may help solve this case.
