Fuel leak caused by passing Train causes Momence road closure, cleanup underway

MOMENCE – A fuel leak that’s believed to have come from a train moving through the area has caused multiple road closures.

According to the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department, emergency personnel have been on the scene near the railroad tracks at Route 114.  

Details on the severity of the leak have yet to be released, but officials are asking residents to find another route around the area.  

It’s unknown at this time how long cleanup could take.
