CHICAGO, IL – The Chicago Police Department apprehended heavily armed suspects on Monday who were believed to have been involved in multiple crimes across various suburban towns and villages throughout Chicagoland.
The suspects were arrested after a pursuit that involved the use of a helicopter, initiated by the Mokena Police Department.
According to Mokena Police, Monday morning responding to a Flock Safety Camera alert of a stolen White Kia entering their jurisdiction. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle which was later observed in the Boulder Ridge Subdivision. The occupants of the vehicle, three African American males, were captured on a Ring Video camera attempting to open car doors. One subject was observed to have a handgun in his hand at the time.
Preliminary reports indicated that the same suspects were involved in multiple similar crimes throughout Chicagoland overnight. After a pursuit and with the use of a helicopter, the heavily armed suspects were apprehended by the Chicago Police Department.
Later that evening, the Mokena Police Department released an update stating that the suspects have not been located, and anyone with information is asked to contact the department.
They also issued a safety alert, reminding residents to remain vigilant and take precautions to ensure their safety.
The investigation into these crimes is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Residents are reminded to always lock their vehicles, never keep anything of value in their car, and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
