Homewood Police Respond to Armed Robbery of Armored Truck on 183rd Street

HOMEWOOD, IL – An armored truck was robbed at gunpoint on the 3100 block of 183rd Street in Homewood on Tuesday morning. 

The Homewood Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 9:31 AM after receiving reports of an armed robbery. According to witnesses, two male suspects approached an employee of the armored truck, with one of them wielding a handgun. The suspect hit the employee with the weapon and demanded money. After obtaining an unknown amount of US currency, the suspects fled the area in a vehicle heading westbound.

The employee of the armored truck sustained minor injuries and is being treated. The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is collaborating with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) to investigate the incident.
