Illinois State Police Confirm Fatality in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 80

LANSING, IL – A multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 80 near the Torrence Ave exit, according to the Illinois State Police, tragically left one person dead and forced the closure of multiple lanes for nearly 10 hours. 

According to State Police, the incident occurred Tuesday around 5:04 PM when a van collided at a high rate of speed and became pinned under a Semi Tractor Trailer. The driver of the van was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Three other passengers of two additional vehicles involved in the crash received medical attention and were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Cook County Medical Examiner has not yet released the victim’s identity. 

The investigation into the multi-vehicle wreck is ongoing.
