A Rantoul resident has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash on Monday in Champaign County. Brian A. Schue, 29, was pronounced dead just before 6 p.m. on Monday at Carle Hospital in Urbana, according to Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup.

Schue was reportedly struck by a pickup truck while changing a tire on U.S. Route 45 just south of Thomasboro. The crash occurred at around 5 p.m., and the driver of the pickup truck was injured in the incident. However, the driver is expected to survive, according to officials.

An autopsy determined that Schue died from blunt force injuries, Northrup said. The Illinois State Police reported that the victim was struck by the pickup truck while it was passing through the area.

The accident caused traffic disruptions on U.S. Route 45 in the vicinity of Thomasboro. Further details about the incident were not immediately available.
