Kankakee, IL – Get ready for a sizzling summer in Riverview Historic District, as a series of entertaining events are set to take place in the coming months. The historic district will be buzzing with music, outdoor activities, and community gatherings, promising fun-filled days for locals and visitors alike.

Kicking off the summer festivities is the Jazz Times Big Band, scheduled to perform at Cobb Park on June 11 from 4-6 PM. Music enthusiasts can look forward to an enchanting evening of jazz melodies in the heart of Riverview.

On June 18, Cobb Park will host the Run for Autism, a charitable event aimed at raising awareness and support for autism. Participants can engage in a fun run while contributing to a meaningful cause.

As the summer solstice approaches on June 20, the Wright in Kankakee event will be held to commemorate the architectural legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright. Riverview residents and visitors will have the opportunity to explore and appreciate the district’s rich architectural heritage.

The summer concert series continues on June 25, with an enchanting blend of bluegrass and Irish music filling the air at Cobb Park from 4-6 PM. Attendees can groove to the rhythm and enjoy the lively tunes.

On July 2, music enthusiasts are in for a treat as the Cobb Park, Woodwind Quarter, KUSOA will host a summer concert series, offering a diverse range of musical performances.

For the 4th of July celebration, Cobb Park will organize the Kiddie Bike Ride and Southside Wheelmen Cobb Park Criterium Bike Race on July 4 and July 9, respectively. Families can enjoy a day of bike races and festivities, creating lasting memories in the heart of Riverview.

Mark your calendars for July 16, when Cobb Park will welcome the Brass Quintet as part of the summer concert series. Attendees can relax and enjoy the beautiful melodies performed by the talented musicians.

From July 20-22, Cobb Park will be hosting AOTC’s “Cinderella,” a ticketed event that promises a captivating theatrical experience for all ages.

For bargain hunters, the Riverview Historic District and surrounding neighborhoods will hold neighborhood garage sales on July 28-29. It’s a perfect opportunity to find unique treasures and support the local community.

Music lovers can enjoy the soulful tunes of Shelby Ryan on July 30, as she takes the stage at Cobb Park from 4-6 PM.
