DIAMOND, IL – Vernon Howard, 46, was apprehended by authorities on Thursday and is now facing a total of 17 felony charges.
Grundy County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the assistance of the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Agency (ATF), executed the arrest of Howard, who stands accused of several offenses including possession, sale, and alteration of firearms and body armor, despite being a felon.
During the operation, law enforcement also allegedly discovered weapons with tampered serial numbers at Howard’s residence. As a result of his alleged crimes, Howard has been remanded to the Grundy County Jail, where he remains in custody on an imposing $500,000 bond.
