Grundy County Man Arrested on 17 Felony Charges, Held on $500,000 Bond

DIAMOND, IL – Vernon Howard, 46, was apprehended by authorities on Thursday and is now facing a total of 17 felony charges. 

Grundy County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the assistance of the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Agency (ATF), executed the arrest of Howard, who stands accused of several offenses including possession, sale, and alteration of firearms and body armor, despite being a felon.

During the operation, law enforcement also allegedly discovered weapons with tampered serial numbers at Howard’s residence. As a result of his alleged crimes, Howard has been remanded to the Grundy County Jail, where he remains in custody on an imposing $500,000 bond.

The case is still under investigation, and further details regarding the evidence and any potential links to other criminal activities have not been disclosed at this time.
