Unhelmeted Motorcyclist Killed after Colliding with Truck Backing Out of Indiana Driveway

PORTAGE, IN — Tragedy struck late Saturday night as a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck resulted in the death of a 47-year-old rider near the intersection of Swanson Road and Birch Avenue, as reported by the Portage Police Department. 

According to reports a truck was backing out of a driveway at the time when the motorcyclist, traveling south, hit the black vehicle. Compounding the severity of the accident, the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. 

The unidentified rider was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The crash remains under investigation pending police and toxicology reports.
